X-TYPE Estate Wins 'what Car?' Big Group Test - May 2004
The X-TYPE Estate has come top in a WHAT CAR? big group test of compact executive estates, beating stiff competition from rivals the BMW 320d Touring, the Volvo V50 Sportswagon and the Audi A4 Avant.

The X-TYPE Estate was named top estate by the magazine for the large load bay, refined engine and fine handling.  The WHAT CAR? Verdict said: "Jaguar is a great all-rounder, delivering everything you could want in a stylish estate.

"Jaguar has done a fine job of turning the X-TYPE into an estate, and it impresses us enough to lift the laurels in this test.  Its useful load space is the biggest of the four cars here, the rear seats are quick and easy to fold to take advantage of its cargo capacity, and it provides plenty of space and comfort for passengers."
